All of a sudden we moved into summer. At least into summer temperatures. The computer says it is 87 currently and we are supposed to hit a high of mid-90s. I am not ready for that. I am glad to not have snow at the moment but I wasn’t quite ready for the 90s. In another month that would be fine but not yet.
I just hope this doesn’t cook my seedlings that I just put out. Funny. Two or three weeks ago we had a foot of snow on the ground and now it is hot. Goofy weather of mine. It makes for tough or dead plants. There really is no middle ground there.
The pallets in the garden seem to be doing their job. Although now I need the dog to do her job more as I found a big hole in the pea bed today. I was watering this morning and all of a sudden there was a sink hole in the middle of the bed. Tunnels must have caved in with the water. Dang varmints! Between them and my pea-lovin’ chickens I am going to have to buy peas at the farmer’s market this year.
There is always trouble in a garden. It is hard to avoid when the critters think they have found some sort of food mecca. I can’t blame them. It would be like coming upon your favorite store wide-open and everything marked free. Well, of course you would help yourself. They just don’t understand that we put that pile of food there for us and not for them. Silly, selfish, human.
I hope I get a good garden season out of it despite the critters. I don’t mind sharing a little, just not a lot.
