Happy Easter

I’m on a quick break from working outside. It is supposed to be almost 80 degrees today. I haven’t adjusted to those temperatures just yet so I have to remember to take it a little slower than I normally would. I find I get over-heated quickly. I much prefer the cooler weather.

At least it makes for a good day to clean out the chicken coop, plant some trees, re-pot some seedlings, and start some new seeds. We are only about 5 weeks away from our average frost-free date and I’m starting to feel the Spring planting push. I’ve been a bit lazy about getting my seeds started this year. I think I kind of overwhelmed myself last year having a garden and partaking in a CSA. It was good but I had this never-ending supply of food that needed taking care of. By the end of the season I was more than done. This year I am going to try to not overwhelm myself.

I am realizing that I am going to have to shift my timeline for myself. I need to get up and moving early in the morning before it gets hot. I am a serious wimp when it comes to the heat so I need to make allowances. I will work into a schedule as the summer gets here. I’d better at any rate.

It is kind of funny. I see Summer as the super busy crazy time when I don’t think a lot of people see it that way. I see Winter as a time for relaxing and re-charging for the busy Summer season.

Well, I’d better go back and get the chicken wire put up so maybe my chickens will stay in their enclosure and then I can actually plant some seeds in the garden.

About littlehawkyarns

I'm a gardener that is trying to provide good food for my family to enjoy. I have two children, two dogs, a husband, four chickens, and four cats. In addition gardening I enjoy handwork such as knitting, crochet, and sewing. I'm in the process of trying to learn tatting and embroidery as well. I am soon adding more critters to the collection since we just got property and I spin yarn.
