Spring?

In January?  It seems like it this last week.  I do believe we’ve hit 60 a couple of times and we are predicted to do so all week.  This is nuts.  I’ve been out moving planters around to get more sun so the soil will thaw.  Once that is done I’ll start some of my cool weather crops.  I’m hoping I can get some kale and lettuce going for some greens.  Being in pots I can move them inside if I need to as well.  We’ll just see how I do with containers.  I’ve never done well with container plants.  I’m not sure why.  I think they are too likely to get over/under watered and there is too little room for error.

With the feeling of Spring in the air, my seed catalog stack next to me, and the price of food going up always, I’m ready to get things started in the garden.  It is really too bad we don’t have a piece of property yet.  So be it.  I’ll get better about my containers.  I’d like to purchase a composter as well.  I wouldn’t except for the fact that I’m not a homeowner anymore and I’d like to still have my compost.  I’m sure my plants would like it too.  I could make my own too but the ones for sale are so nice they have me drooling over them.

Guess I’ll have to save up my pennies for a composter.

About littlehawkyarns

I'm a gardener that is trying to provide good food for my family to enjoy. I have two children, two dogs, a husband, four chickens, and four cats. In addition gardening I enjoy handwork such as knitting, crochet, and sewing. I'm in the process of trying to learn tatting and embroidery as well. I am soon adding more critters to the collection since we just got property and I spin yarn.
