Adventures in Fiber

I picked up a spinning wheel this last fall and started spinning.  Not the excercise class with stationary bikes; wool.  I started spinning with wool through a class that I took as an evening adult education class given by the local college.  I’m having a blast!  I’ve wanted to spin for a very long time but I was never able to find anyone to teach me or that had a wheel to borrow.  Our new area had a Fiber Art Fair in September.  Oh, that was a bit of heaven.  People, critters, and fiber everywhere.  I got to play on a wheel there and proceeded to buy one.  And then I signed up for the class. 4 weeks later I was spinning and had become part of a spinning/knitting group.  — I’m teaching myself to knit now too.–

4 months later I’m going to start putting my hand spun yarn in a shop that is opening in February.  I’m going to take the plunge.  At least with a skein or two and see what happens.  I have a ton of research to do, a name to come up with, a logo to come up with, and pricing to do.  I’m excited. This should be lots of fun.

About littlehawkyarns

I'm a gardener that is trying to provide good food for my family to enjoy. I have two children, two dogs, a husband, four chickens, and four cats. In addition gardening I enjoy handwork such as knitting, crochet, and sewing. I'm in the process of trying to learn tatting and embroidery as well. I am soon adding more critters to the collection since we just got property and I spin yarn.
